How to Grow Rich with Peace of Mind

Uncategorized

How would you like to grow rich with peace of mind?

You can’t exactly claim to be having inner peace if you are constantly tossing in bed at night and fretting over financial matters. A mind that is fraught with worry is hardly still.

Or, it may be that you are already making good money but have not acquired it in a meaningful way and with a clear conscience. While your concerns may differ from someone who is poor and struggling, you are nonetheless unhappy and not living life in fulfilment and freedom.

Well, for anyone who is having money stress, I suggest finding a better way forward.

In either situation, you are being a slave to money. You are held captive. The consequence is a negative impact on the quality of your life. As Napoleon Hill, the best-selling author of Think and Grow Rich, advocates, never allow money to master you. If you are in emotionally disrupted even whilst you are working towards wealth creation, you are not at peace.

If you’ve read Napoleon Hill’s famous Think and Grow Rich, I suggest checking out the book Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind too! Napoleon Hill wrote Grow Rich! With a Peace of Mind when he was 84, years after he wrote Think and Grow Rich and at a time when he was much wiser. In Grow Rich with Peace of Mind, he reconciled important principles that would help anyone create success and balance at the same time.

Background to Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind

Think and Grow Rich is well-loved by millions of people around the world. However, there were some who criticised Think and Grow Rich for encouraging materalistic cravings and promoting greed. Well, Napoleon Hill wrote Grow Rich! with Peace of Mind to address some of the concerns raised.

Indeed, I had found myself rather intrigued by a title that says Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind. I had discovered an ebook version on my kindle while searching the library for what I could read next. My husband had purchased and shared a copy sometime ago. But it was only recently that I finally came across it.

In the book, Napoleon Hill drew on his personal experiences over the years. Having achieved much success in his early career, Napoleon had once believed that it was essential that he owned a big house and drove nothing less than a Rolls Royce. However, the extravagant spending prior to the Great Depression of 1929 led to Napoleon Hill losing his estate. From the lessons learnt thereafter, he distilled wisdom which he shared in Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind.

There are plenty of messages from the book that I had found useful to remind myself of.  Writing this article here is my way of keeping notes. And I’d like to share them with you.

What Is Peace of Mind

First of all, what does peace of mind mean?

Napoleon Hill describes peace of mind beyond being in a restful state. In fact, he says that it can be both restful and dynamic. It manifests itself in many ways in terms of freedom such as:
– freedom from negative force which may take possession of the mind,
– freedom from any feeling of want
– freedom from all fears
– habit of helping others to help themselves
– habit of going the extra mile in relationships
– habit of giving before trying to get

“Peace of mind helps you live your life on your own terms, in values of your own choosing, so that every day your life grows richer and greater.” Napoleon Hill

7 Powerful Lessons from Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind

1. Know your own mind – live your own life.

Pursue your own dreams. Let how you are living your life influence others to realise their own powers and find their destiny. Set a time limit for specific accomplishment and build up spiritual defences within your mind, so that you can achieve what you want.

2. Keep a positive attitude that brings wealth and peace.

A positive mental attitude keeps your mind on your goal and shows you how to get there. You are governed by 9 basic motives, out of which 7 are connected strongly to peace of mind. Set up 10 Princes of Guidance to keep negative influences out of your mind.

3. Free yourself from fear, so that you can be free to live.

“Fear is like prayer in reverse; it appeals to negative forces which hurt us, instead of to positive forces which help and sustain us.” Napoleon Hill

4. Will you master money or – will it master you?

You lose peace of mind when you pursue money too anxiously. “Enough money” is a relative term. When you feel you will be satisfied enough for solid comfort and securities and some luxuries, you often attain more.

5. Share your riches.

Wealth that is shared creates more wealth. If you render help, you will be rewarded many fold.

6. Form a master mind group.

You get in tune with a mind that resonate with yours and double your mind power for a common goal. Find members who are like-minded. Napoleon Hill also suggested that entrepreneurs get together to invest in and nurture new business owners–a model for venture capital companies!

7. The Supreme Secret.

The Supreme Secret: Anything the mind can believe, it can achieve. Decide on the belief you want and embed it in your subconscious. Use the art of auto-suggestion which essentially is visualisation and positive affirmations to realise your dreams.

Secret Sacred Messages from Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind

Unseen guidance in the Jungle of Life. In Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind, Napoleon Hill  shared that the “Master” spoke to him audibly, revealing secret knowledge. Apparently, the Master came from a school of wisdom which has persisted in the Himalayas for ten thousand years.

The Master shared that 26 enemies lie in wait in the Jungle of Life. These enemies are include fear, greed, intolerance, egotism, lust, anger, hatred, and so on. As long as one enemy remains, you are still  in the Jungle of Life. However, once you defeat the above 26 enemies, you acquire the ability to live a life of peace, abundance, success and enjoyment.

Ultimately, nothing matters. Napoleon Hill also shared about how an experience in “automatic writing” at the typewriter where communcation from an unseen world revealed the message: ultimately, nothing matters. The message is about keeping things in perspective, so that you can let go of the things you can’t control more easily.

Reading Recommendation: Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind

If you want to realise your highest potential, developing success consciousness is a must. Grow Rich! With Peace Of Mind offers some powerful lessons about mastering the self. Even though they were written years ago, they are still relevant today.

I certainly agree: A mind cluttered with emotional and mental “enemies” is not in its best optimal state to achieve true success and abundance. As pointed out in the book, the way to inner peace is through releasing the past, managing your emotions, using positive visualisation and so on…in fact, all the things that I practice and share with others too. Conversely, inner peace brings about stability, ease and confidence. You are in a better state to attract all that you desire and more.

I recommend having Grow Rich! with Peace of Mind in your book list.  Napoleon Hill relates interesting stories. Notwithstanding, I suggest placing attention to applying the lessons after reading the book. As we all know, reading and taking action is two different matters. For instance, it’s one thing to read about letting go and quite another, to actually release an attachment to the past.

The book is a wonderful companion for anyone’s wealth creation journey.  It serves as a guide for applying important principles to your specific situation. There are certainly steps and actions that you can take for achieving peace of mind. I’d be happy to help you along your journey, if you’ve got questions about making a shift. Apply here for a call.

Too Many Voices

Written by Alden Tan

There’re too many voices today.

The comments on social media.

The angry yells from a protest.

The cries of the hurt.

The many texts you get.

The lies you were told.

The fingers pointing at you.

And so on.

But none can’t beat one.

Yours.

Just listen.

Just listen.

Just listen.

Sometimes it’s soft. I know.

But still.

Just listen.

Just listen.

Just listen.

It’s the only real one.

A Letter of Love from Above (The Virtue of Happiness)

Uncategorized

Are you truly happy?

Note: “Letters of Love from Above” will be a series of letters that I would imagine a loving Heavenly Father might write to you, His dear child. If you are uncomfortable with that notion, imagine Life, or The Universe, Truth or Karma, Mother Earth, Mother Teresa, or Mother Goose, for that matter, is writing the letter. But for me, it is a loving God reaching down to His sons and daughters as I would imagine that reach looking like in words.

My Dear Child,

Are you happy? Are you truly, really, deeply happy? Can you experience what might be called Soul Satisfaction? Are you at peace?

Is your heart filled with love? Do you wake up grateful for the opportunity to live yet another day? Are you driven to make a difference? Are you growing and developing and stretching as you pursue a good life? Do you enjoy your life and feel blessed to be alive?

I want that for you more than you can possibly know. I want you to wake up excited about life, hopeful for your future, in love with those around you, living a life of purpose, meaning, joy and goodness.

Do you wonder why I care so much about your happiness? Perhaps you have heard that all I care about is how good or obedient you are. Well, it’s true that I care about your goodness and your willing adherence to eternal truths.

Life is simply lived better that way. You can then steer clear of moral and spiritual obstacles and the needless heartache that accompanies falling off moral cliffs with all the attendant spiritual and emotional ramifications of such falls.

But I also care very deeply about the amount of joy you experience. I care about your happiness.

And for two very good reasons.

1. You are my child, made in my image.

How could I not care about your happiness? My perfect love for you yearns for it. My love drives my desire that you live an elevated life of joy.

But happiness exists only at the end of correct principles applied correctly. In other words, I can’t cause your happiness without violating My nature, eternal principles and universal Truths.

I won’t frustrate the very purpose of your existence here. That would make me less than I Am. It would also prevent you from becoming all that you can become.

You are here to learn, to grow, to practice living a good life, after all. I can point the way, of course, but can’t give you what you didn’t earn.

Otherwise, your happiness would be but a false image of something that needs to become a living part of you, the natural expression of who you are, to have any lasting power.

To give you happiness as an unearned and undeveloped gift is to paint you something you haven’t yet become.

It would be like giving you an income without a job or muscles without exercise, or wisdom without experience or knowledge without effort. The foundation to sustain the gift would never be developed. And so the gift would ultimately crumble to ashes.

I would not rob you of the growth that precedes happiness as it’s properly sought. As you work on your happiness, you evolve, you develop, you change. You become something you weren’t. Your personality is refined and your character is honed.

Only then can you become a happy person, rather than just a person who periodically experiences happiness.

Do you see the difference?

A person who experiences happiness is dependent on life circumstances that arrange themselves such that you are made happy. Outside forces deliver the happy moment.

But a happy person takes their happiness into life’s experiences, internalizing the principles of happiness, living them even when life’s circumstances don’t arrange themselves so happily.

So, I can guide you, inspire you, comfort and strengthen you on your journey when you feel vulnerable, weak or lost. But I can’t produce inside of you what you haven’t created.

As my child, I want what is best for you. And happiness is certainly best for you. But it can only be developed, not gifted, not created from nothing, not poured into you like so much water poured into a flask.

(Follow this link to read more about 7 basic habits that are commonly shared by the happiest people)

But there’s another reason I care so much about how happy you are.

2. Happiness is more than an emotional good; Happiness is a moral good.

Here’s the truth no one likes to say out loud: Happy people are more likely to be good people.

Happy people tend to be more patient and loving, more generous, giving and kind.

Happy people are better children and better parents than their unhappy counterparts. They are more likely to be better employers and employees, better grandparents, friends and neighbors.

Happy parents, for example, don’t yell at their children as much. They are more patient, spend more time with them and are kinder to their children than depressed, anxious, frustrated or chronically angry parents.

Happy parents have the emotional wherewithal to be in the moment with and for their kids, enjoying them, focused on them, teaching them, loving them, forgiving them, being patient with their missteps, overlooking their idiosyncrasies, celebrating their accomplishments, creating a safe place for them to fall down, mess things up and otherwise falter on their way to mastery, improvement, growth and maturity.

It’s not that unhappy people are bad people, mind you, but that they do not have the emotional presence to deal effectively with frustrating circumstances.

And so happy people are more likely to raise happier children who will more likely than not, raise happier children in turn, who then will have a greater likelihood of living more rewarding lives doing more good to more people.

I hope you can now clearly see the connection, that happiness is more than a happiness thing. It’s more than feelings. It’s more than an issue that merely affects your emotional state. It’s more than a personal issue of the heart.

It’s a moral issue. It’s a character issue.

Happiness affects how we think and how we act. It affects our relationships, our productivity and our ability to to see and care about the needs of others.

Unhappy people are paradoxically consumed with themselves, which is an inherently selfish way to live. The world revolves around them, their feelings, how others are treating them, how others are responsible for their unhappiness.

Happy people, on the other hand, are more giving, more compassionate, more charitable, and more loving.

People treat others worse when they are unhappy. They treat others better when they are filled with joy.

It is easier being married to a happy person than a depressed or angry one. It is easier being the son or daughter of a happy dad than it is to an angry father.

Homes are filled with an entirely different spirit when parents are fulfilled, satisfied, confident, loving and kind—all components of a happy life.

There is, therefore, a moral obligation I place on you to seek out happiness, to search for the principles upon which happiness is the natural outcome, and to actively work to develop those traits and characteristics within you.

(Click here to read about those character traits that are needed for a happy life)

A Nudge, Not a Judgement

Please don’t interpret this letter as a guilt trip. I know that some will. But I can’t hide the truth because some may read into it what I never intended.

This is a letter of motivation. It is a map that places your happiness at its center. It is a light in the flickering darkness boldly proclaiming that life was never meant to stay dark.

It is a nudge in the right direction, one that accepts the reality of life—that happiness matters tremendously, that your happiness matters tremendously, and that it matters because I care about you and because I care about those who interact with you.

And so I want you to be happy for your own sake … and for others’.

Here to Help

But as you seek joy, don’t forget that I am here to help guide you along the way.

I will unfold the path to happiness as you step out into the dimly lit path that leads to it. I will inspire you and uplift you and remind you and take you by the hand to lead you to more happiness than you ever thought possible.

Have faith in Me and you will find the power to have more faith in yourself.

It’s Your Mountain to Climb

But you have to do the walking. You have to do the climbing. You can’t pray for happiness, then sit on the couch watching TV until I come to your front door and hand you the gift.

It can’t work that way.

But as you develop the traits that produce happiness, you’ll realize you would never truly want it in any other way.

It will take work. Sometimes you will want to give up. Your heart may ache. Your mind may hurt. Your soul may gasp for air.

But remember, your path to happiness is taking you through rough territory, on a journey to self-discovery, self-mastery, and self-development. You are forging a character. And character is only ultimately forged in the furnace of great heat.

I will lighten your burden as you reach out to me and ask for guidance, but your spiritual and moral and emotional muscles must be exercised, developed and strengthened as you do the work of happiness.

Please don’t be too discouraged as you do that work, because it is work. Just as physical muscles don’t grow over night, so emotional maturity, spiritual awareness, character development, and happiness takes time too.

So be patient and take it a step at a time.

A Promise

In the end, as you pursue more happiness by developing greater patience, love, forgiveness and kindness, find more purpose and meaning in your life, and fill your thoughts will gratitude, the door to your happiness will open.

You will then see the glimmer of sunlight. And then you will be able to open what may have been locked or only partially seen by you before. Then the door to happiness will be flung open widely. Then you will see clearly what you have been missing all along.

And then you will be truly, really, deeply happy.

I care passionately about your happiness. Now you know why. I hope that matters to you. But more importantly, I hope you do something about it.

I’ll be waiting behind that door for you when you come knocking.

With more Love than you can imagine,
Father.

Do you often feel a sharp pain in your heart as another person shares about her struggles with you?

Have you ever an unexplained wave of negative energy when visiting a new place such that you feel sick immediately?

If any of the above is true, you may be someone with empath traits.

The above examples appear in my family, friends, clients and most of all, myself!

After reflecting on my own experiences and knowing others who have them, I realise that I know a fair bit about what life for one having empath traits is like.

What’s Life Like for You with Empath Traits

Essentially, an empath is someone who feels the emotions of others as if they are his or her own.

If you have little understanding and self-awareness about what it means to have empath traits, life can possibly be a miserable and trying one.

You often feel vulnerable due to a heightened level of sensitivity. To protect yourself, you may find it necessary to stay away from others. There is a wall that you’ve built psychologically, to keep safe. You believe that no one understands your world and that it is best that you are alone. And so, you keep to yourself mostly.

Also, because you easily sponge up other people’s emotions, it can get to a point of being unbearable. You feel constantly tired, drained of energy. If not careful, you enter into a state of despair with no idea that you are carrying the emotional weight of 100 persons on your back. In a state of depression, you may entertain suicidal thoughts or adopt addictive behavior so that you no longer have to “feel” any more.

Still, there are positive empath traits to be aware of. You tend to be highly intuitive and your empathetic nature attracts people easily. With the ability to feel the emotions of others, you are able to create connections quickly. This ability is helpful if you are in the healing profession, coaching/counselling or in the creative arts field.

By undertaking self-discovery and creating better awareness, you can learn to survive and cope in a world that could appear harsh to you at first. Additionally, you can draw on your strengths to create a more empowering life for yourself. Find out more as you read on 🙂

Understand the Distinction Between an Empath and Someone who is Merely Empathtic

There is a difference between being an empath and someone who is merely empathic and not an empath. It can be difficult to make a distinction. Most people will fall into the latter group. As humans, we are naturally sensitive and can practice empathy. For example, anyone with a fair level of sensitivity can feel sorry for the victim of an unfortunate event.

Notwithstanding, any difference is not a matter of black and white as there can be shades in between. People can have varying degrees of empath attributes. Some more developed than others.

What differentiates between being a true empath and someone who is highly sensitive is not just about taking on the emotions of another. As indicated in my questions at the start of this article, empaths with heightened intuitive abilities can also experience physical sensations with messages about another person. They are able to pick up and feel affected by the energy of a place even though they are not consciously aware about what had happened there previously.

If you are having trouble understanding why you are always feeling depleted in energy and have issues with emotional overwhelm, it would help to find out more about empath traits. Emotional sponging can be exhausting on a day to day basis. Essentially you are carrying other people’s karmic burdens as well. Your belief system is also geared to helping others at your own expense. Finally, you sacrifice your own goals for the sake of keeping those around you happy.

Knowing that you are an empath or have empath traits helps you with coping strategies. You learn what to avoid, with increased self-awareness. Also, you learn about how to relate to others in a safe way that is also within a healthy personal boundary. What’s key to realise is that some form of learning needs to be involved.

3. You experience migraine headaches, nausea and/or a wave of negative energy when you enter a place where people were feeling depressed or sad previously.

7. You can’t seem to focus (with a scatter in energy) when there are other people around, but you are calm and fine on your own.

9. You often feel unwell even though the doctor may not be able to esatily detect what’s wrong with you physically.

10. You have a low pain threshold and you have a huge aversion to taking injection shots or being in situations where there is blood involved.

11. You often end up as a doormat as you have difficulty saying “no” to others and feel the need to please the wishes of others.

12. You feel the CONSTANT need to express your emotions and what you feel through the arts be it dance, acting or drawing.

13. You have a great deal of compassion and being very thoughtful, show a heightened level of care for others.

14. You are drawn to metaphysics, due to your ability to feel and sense energy.

15. You tend to attract paranormal experiences. Spirits like to convey messages through giving you emotional impulses.

17. You prefer to avoid meat because you can feel the suffering of the animal.

18. You often feel physically ill when you watch the news or listen to the radio about violence and cruelty.

19. You have fewer problems with knowing what others feel than being clear about what you think and feel.

20. You tend to escape from the real world by adopting addictive behavior such as drinking or playing video games.

21. You are sensitive to old things such as vintage items, ancient relics and second hand stuff. Tell-tale signs are such as developing a headache, feeling nauseated, being sick in the stomach, turning cold and a rush of nervous energy.

22. You also experience symptoms such as getting a migraine or goosebumps on your arms when entering some historical place (eg. burial grounds of mass killings) or ancient ruins, even though you feel particularly drawn to visiting such destinations.

23. You crave for freedom to do as you please, rather than be bogged down by rules and regimes.

23. With your caring nature, you are drawn to the helping profession or doing some form of volunteer work.

24. You have a strong affinity for animals, nature and people.

25. When telling or sharing stories, you tend to describe emotional details vividly by tuning into your feelings.

26. You tend to “block” out others, in attempts to protect your energy and prefer to be reclusive.

27. You tend to have allergy problems. Skin issues, in particular, are about establishing personal boundary. Read about my own experiences with skin problems.

28. You have the strong tendency to stand up for the weak and disadvantaged, as you are able to feel their struggles.

29. You enjoy solitude a lot more than others, and often need to take me time to recharge from having a flat battery.

30. You are guided more by your heart than logic, when making decisions. It’s possible that your decisions change in accordance to mood swings.

One trait or two that you’ve checked off the list does not necessarily make anyone an empath. The crucial difference is the propensity to absorb emotions around you. Like a sponge that easily absorbs liquid, it’s the same for empaths. It’s not surprising that many empaths or those with empath traits are often negatively described as being highly emotional!

What Can You Do with Empath Traits

Many with empath traits struggle with not knowing what to do at first. It was the same for me too. I could not explain the constant fatigue I was feeling at one stage. Depressive episodes would hit me when I get stuck in my emotional pain body. Fortunately, I have learned how to survive and get on top of my challenges.

May I declare…

Being an empath or someone with empath traits is not a death sentence.

Neither should it be an excuse to isolate yourself from the world.

There are tools and strategies such as creating a boundary, establishing an energy shield and getting away from toxic relationships that can help.

As an empath healer, you can learn to “feel” your clients’ energy just enough to help them and not holding on to the disruption after the session. It’s certainly what I do for release and detachment. If you are a Reiki, Quantum Touch or any hands-on energy healing, you need to practice this.

A big part about taking charge of your life is about creating mindfulness. Mindfulness is needed to discern what is truly your stuff and what are others and to establish clear boundaries. Start by recognising if you have got empath traits.

Transform from being a struggling empath to one who is not just surviving….but also who has the ability to thrive in this world!

Love and abundance always,
